Classical Pianist • Piano Instructor
Dr. Nasim Moattar started playing the piano when she was only 4 years old. As a child, she had a great passion for learning different music styles, such as classical, pop, jazz, traditional, and more. She started performing recitals from a very young age and has performed solo and chamber music recitals across the United States, Switzerland, and Iran.
Dr. Moattar has been the recipient of several awards, prizes, and scholarships. She has been a two-time recipient of the Frieda Derdeyn Bambas Piano Endowed Scholarship at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Moattar has also received the Graduate Equity Fellowship and presented her scholarly research at the 24th Annual Student Research and Creative Works Symposium at California State University, Northridge. She has been recognized as teacher of the year by California Music Studios, where she used to teach in San Diego, CA, and has also won several prizes in piano competitions in her home country, Iran.
With more than twenty years of piano teaching experience, Dr. Moattar has devoted much of her professional life to music education. She enjoys combining her passion and energy for music with the enthusiasm, individuality, and unique musical strengths that each student brings to the lessons.
Dr. Moattar serves on the piano faculty at California State University, Northridge, where she teaches piano pedagogy and keyboard musicianship. She received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Oklahoma, where she studied applied piano with Dr. Jeongwon Ham, and piano pedagogy with Drs. Barbara Fast and Sara Ernst.
Dr. Moattar also holds a Master of Music degree with distinction and a summa cum laude Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from California State University, Northridge. At CSUN, she studied piano with Dr. Dmitry Rachmanov and Professor Mark Richman, and piano pedagogy with Dr. Gayle Kowalchyk and Professor Edward Francis.

Studio Policy:

Lessons are usually scheduled in 30, 45, 60 minute slots.

Students are Responsible for buying their music books.
-
You should give the instructor 24 hours notice in order for a missed lesson to be rescheduled.
-
There are no credits or refunds for last-minute cancelations (cancelations within 24 hours of the lesson time).
-
The tuition for each month is due on or before the first lesson of that month.
